An Ohio woman died after being knocked into a rough Atlantic Ocean in Rodanthe on Sunday, Nov. 15.
According
to published reports, the woman was reportedly walking on sandbags at
the end of a street in North Rodanthe, when a large wave swept her into
the sea.
A coastal storm has whipped up the ocean for almost a
week off the Outer Banks, and seas last weekend were running 12 to 15
feet.
The woman, who was in her 60s, was reportedly pulled to shore by her husband.
Rescuers
from the Chicamacomico Banks Fire and Rescue Department responded to
the 1 p.m. call within minutes. CPR was administered to the victim, who
was unconscious. She was transported by Dare MedFlight to Norfolk
Sentara General Hospital, where she died on Monday.
The cause of death and name of the victim are not available.
