Some Cedar Island and Swan Quarter
ferry runs are suspended today

The N.C. Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division suspended
the 6:30 a.m. run from Ocracoke to Swan Quarter on Thursday morning, as
well as the 7 a.m. runs from both Ocracoke and Cedar Island because of
extremely low water in the Pamlico Sound.
Several more runs have been suspended for today, including the 9:30
a.m. run out of Swan Quarter, the 10:30 a.m. runs from both Ocracoke
and Cedar Island. Additionally, there will be no 2 p.m. run out of
Ocracoke or 5 p.m. departure out of Cedar Island.
The following runs will take place:
• From Swan Quarter, the 4 p.m. departure to Ocracoke;
• From Ocracoke, the 12:30 p.m. run to Swan Quarter and the 5 p.m. run to Cedar Island; and
• From Cedar Island, the 2 p.m. run to Ocracoke.
All runs at these three ferry terminals will resume normal schedules
Friday as conditions on the sound improve. For further information call
