Engagements and Weddings



Christinia Ballance and Jeremy Hicks engagement is announced


Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ballance of Hatteras announce the engagement of their daughter, Christinia Melissa, to Jeremy Stephen Hicks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hicks of Crossnore, N.C.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler Ballance and the late Mr. and Mrs. P. T. Dicksey, all of Hatteras.  The prospective groom is the grandson of Mrs. Emmalene Henson and the late Mr. Joe Henson of Crossnore and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hicks of Elk Park, N.C.

Christinia graduated from Cape Hatteras High School in 2001 after which she attended North Carolina State University as a Park Scholar, graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in animal science with a minor in nutrition.  She is currently attending North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine in Raleigh and plans to graduate in May, 2010.

Jeremy graduated from Avery County High School in 1996.  He attended Caldwell Community College's Emergency Medical Services Program and graduated in 1999.  He is currently employed by Bite Me Sportfishing in Hatteras.

Vows will be exchanged during a candlelight service on New Year’s Eve at the Hatteras United Methodist Church in Hatteras village.
