Frisco woman wins a Jeep in Our Lady of the Seas fundraiser  “And the winner is…Terry Brown!” exclaimed Father Bob Brown on Sunday morning, Dec. 14, as he read the name of the grand prize winner of Our Lady of the Seas Catholic Church’s raffle. The grand prize, a 2008 Jeep Wrangler four-wheel drive, was won by a local, Terry Brown of Frisco. Raffle co-chairman Dave Kelmer called Terry on the phone moments after the official drawing as a large, enthusiastic crowd cheered and applauded in the background. Shortly after that call, Terry arrived at the church’s social hall to take her first look at her new vehicle. “I’m just so shocked I can barely speak,” she said. The raffle drawing capped off an exciting and fun morning at the church’s social hall. After the usual 9 a.m. Mass, all parishioners, along with friends and family, enjoyed a breakfast celebration. The meal was catered by Sandra, Bentley, and Peggy Crabtree. The Crabtrees were aided by their “kitchen crew” – Anita and Stuart “Brud” Bills, Megan Vayette, Bill Vancura, and Rita Doerr. After breakfast was over, the crowd waited while, one by one, the children of the parish drew the winning tickets from the raffle bin. Father Bob, then read each winning ticket, announcing the winners as the crowd cheered each one. The other raffle winners were: • Second. A week’s vacation in an oceanfront house. Linda and Jack Monsell, Oriental, N.C. • Third. $1,000.00 cash. Alex and Phyllis Samofal, Rodanthe. • Fourth. Painting by Linda Browning. Kate and Ken Richards, Granville, Ohio. • Fifth. $250 gift certificate to Dinky’s Restaurant. Ben and Erin Gerberville, Hillsborough, N.J. The morning’s celebration was the culmination of a year’s long process. The raffle was Our Lady of the Seas’ most recent effort to help raise funds for the church. The event’s success was due to the countless hours that many volunteers put into the project, as well as the generosity of the 1,002 people who took a chance and bought a $50 ticket to win a new car.
