Ocracoke’s Deepwater Theater has music and more for the summer

- Ocracoke’s
Deepwater Theater, located on School Road, offers a full summer
schedule of music, movies, and more. Sit in air-conditioned splendor
and enjoy family-friendly entertainment Tuesday through Friday evenings
and Wednesday matinees. A top draw is the music of many talented
Ocracoke islanders in the Ocrafolk Opry, Molasses Creek band, and
Coyote.
Family Movie Night
Tuesdays at 7 p.m., beginning June 17 through August. Admission
is free; snacks and raffle tickets are available for purchase. Children
under six must be accompanied by an adult. Movie nights are a
fundraiser for the Ocracoke Youth Center made possible by a grant from
the Outer Banks Community Foundation.
Performances by Ocracoke Musicians and Storytellers
Beginning June 11 through September. “The Rumgagger.” Thursdays, 1 p.m. matinee.
Tall tales, poems and music from the seven seas with scurvy pirates
Capt. Rob and Fiddler Dave. Fun for the whole family. Doors open at
12:30 p.m., and shows run from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Admission is $10 for
adults and $5 for kids.

The Ocrafolk Opry
Wednesdays at 8 p.m. A musical buffet of the amazing talent on tiny
Ocracoke Island, the Opry features Jamie Tunnell, Molasses Creek,
Coyote, Sundae Horn, Philip Howard, Capt. Rob and others. Doors open at
7:30 and shows run 8 –10 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and $7
for kids.
Molasses Creek
Thursdays at 8 p.m. Music from Ocracoke’s own Molasses Creek, a
high-energy acoustic folk-fusion band which delights its audiences with
foot-stomping bluegrass, ballads, and a bit of wacky humor. Doors open
at 7:30 and shows run 8 –10 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and
$7 for kids.
Coyote and Noah Paley
Fridays at 8 p.m. Singer/songwriters Coyote (Marcy and Lou of Ocracoke
Island) and Noah Paley of Hatteras Island share a wonderful evening of
songs and the stories behind the music. Doors open at 7:30 and shows
run 8 –10 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids.
Also at Deepwater Theater:
Yoga. Yoga
classes, taught by Amy Hilton, are offered on Mondays at 5 p.m. and
Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m. For more information, contact Amy at

Ocracoke Needle and Thread Club (Quilters).
These Ocracoke quilters meet twice a week on Mondays from 7-9 p.m. and
Sundays 3 p.m.-5 p.m. They welcome visitors, so feel free to come out
and see what they’re working on!
